Laser Resurfacing
Revitalize your Skin
Time, sun exposure, and lifestyle all affect the aging of our facial skin. The unblemished skin of youth, with time, begins to develop hyper-pigmented areas or brown spots. The skin thins and fine lines develop and can progress to a cobblestone texture. Laser skin resurfacing is a procedure where laser energy is used to remove the outer, aged skin revealing a fresher, more youthful skin. There are two different types of laser used for skin resurfacing, the CO2 and the Erbium. Both lasers emit a wavelength of light that is selectively absorbed by water. Because the skin is mostly water, the laser energy is instantly absorbed, causing the outer layers of skin to be removed. Our highly trained, board-certified surgeons determine how much outer layer of skin needs to be removed and adjust the amount of laser energy needed accordingly. This depends on your skin type and your goals. During your consultation, our team will work with you to determine if laser skin resurfacing is right for you.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Procedure
During your initial consultation, our board-certified surgeons will work with you to create a customized treatment plan to help you achieve your skin goals. The laser skin resurfacing procedure will vary with the depth of the outer layers of the skin being treated. Deeper laser resurfacing is needed to treat skin that is more creased or cobblestoned, while more superficial laser resurfacing is needed to treat only brown spots. Superficial treatments use a laser called the Zimmer Chiller which blows cold air onto the skin. Deeper laser skin resurfacing is completed under IV sedation. Your surgeon will help you pick the type of laser skin resurfacing needed to achieve your goals and will then discuss the type of anesthesia needed to optimize your comfort and result.
Recovery & Results
Our team will discuss all aspects of your procedure, recovery, and after care once you and your board-certified surgeon have chosen the type of laser skin resurfacing right for you. Recovery will depend on the depth of the laser resurfacing. Superficial or less deep laser skin resurfacing may heal in as little as 48 hours, while deeper laser skin resurfacing will require 10 days before the skin is healed. *
* Individual results and recovery may vary.
